William Alexander Bell (1821-1846) of Eutaw, AL, entered the University in 1840, joined the Philanthropic Society, and graduated with first honors in 1842. He became a lawyer in Alabama and served as a volunteer in the Mexican War. Bell died at Matamoros, Mexico.
